JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 A man was found guilty of attempted second-degree murder after shooting another man in 2023 at Avenues Mall. <\/p>\n
Michael Williams Jr. faces up to life in prison and will be sentenced at a later date.<\/p>\n
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office, Williams and the victim got into a fight outside the mall on Dec. 1, 2023, around 1:30 p.m. and he pulled out a gun and shot him in the face.<\/p>\n
JSO said the victim then ran inside the mall to get help and members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department showed up a short time later. He was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries, but survived.<\/p>\n
JSO said Williams left the mall in a silver SUV and fled to Louisiana where JSO detectives arrested him.<\/p>\n
There were multiple witnesses on scene, including the victim\u2019s friend, who saw the shooting and the moments leading up to it.<\/p>\n
Court documents say that Williams and the victim used to be close and they had a falling out over a woman.<\/p>\n
