{"id":133970,"date":"2026-01-27T21:03:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T21:03:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/133970\/"},"modified":"2026-01-27T21:03:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T21:03:06","slug":"byron-donalds-speaks-in-ponte-vedra-on-florida-immigration-enforcement-property-taxes-vaccine-mandates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/133970\/","title":{"rendered":"Byron Donalds speaks in Ponte Vedra on Florida immigration enforcement, property taxes, vaccine mandates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 Byron Donalds, Florida Representative and GOP candidate for governor, discussed several key issues shaping the state\u2019s future during a visit Tuesday to Ponte Vedra Beach for the Florida Sheriffs Association Winter Conference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Donalds, who has been endorsed by President Donald Trump, shared his thoughts on immigration enforcement, property taxes and vaccination policies, among other topics.<\/p>\n<p>Immigration enforcement<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Donalds emphasized the importance of law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration agencies to maintain public safety in Florida.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cGov. DeSantis has been supportive of President Trump. He\u2019s made sure the law enforcement is cooperating with ICE,\u201d Donalds said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">He contrasted Florida\u2019s approach with that of Minneapolis, where he said local leaders obstruct federal immigration enforcement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cGov. Walz, his lieutenant governor, his Mayors&#8230; they are all obstructing ICE from doing their job,\u201d Donalds argued. \u201cOne of the reasons why you have border patrol agents on the ground in Minneapolis is because they\u2019re there to protect the ICE agents who are trying to actually execute their duty under federal law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Donalds stressed that immigration enforcement is a federal responsibility and that Florida stands ready to assist. <\/p>\n<p>Property taxes<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Discussing property taxes, Donalds acknowledged the challenge of balancing tax relief with funding essential services. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI still have deputies that have to get paid.
