Dawkins encouraged Nick to unleash his fire and passion. From there, Moss was chosen by Willie “Big Eyes” Smith to join his Legendary Blues Band, but Smith insisted Moss switch to guitar. Blues icon Jimmy Rogers hired Moss as his touring guitarist, mentoring him on the blues lifestyle along the way. Today, Moss’ blistering fretwork, impassioned, soul-charged vocals and memorable original songs place him in a league of his own.

Gruenling, Moss’ friend of over 20 years, is considered among today’s most innovative and creative blues harmonica players. His high-energy, full-throttle reed work has earned him comparisons to many of the greats, including the late James Cotton. A self-taught player and a natural entertainer with seven solo albums and numerous guest appearances to his credit, Gruenling’s giant, fat-toned harp work, raw-boned singing and untamed energy are a perfect foil for Moss’ inspired guitar playing and straight-from-the-shoulder blues vocals.

Bilheimer Capitol Theatre

The Wood Brothers

CLEARWATER — The Wood Brothers will perform on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 8 p.m., at the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre, 405 Cleveland St., Clearwater.

Tickets start at $44.50. A true collaborative effort between its three members, its 11 tracks weave a medley of musical ideas ranging from Latin-inflected acoustic guitar lines to driving post-jazz rhythms to infectious sing-along choruses, resulting in a cohesive, joyful whole. All of it comes with The Wood Brothers’ trademark turns of phrase and lighthearted yet subversively profound wisdom at the core.

Closing in on two decades since the release of their debut album “Ways Not to Lose” in 2006, The Wood Brothers show no signs of slowing down, offering a prolific flow of creative output alongside a zealous commitment to bring their electrifying live performances to fans across North America and Europe.
