Estero Island Historic Society President Elle Bunting will be giving a presentation this Saturday at the Estero Island Historic Society cottage on an old Fort Myers Beach mystery.<\/p>\n
Bill and Patti Kamerer were well known and well liked adventurers who settled on Fort Myers Beach with a dream of sailing around the Bahamas. In April 1980, they took off in their 41-foot sloop, Kalia III, to realize their dream.<\/p>\n
Bill and Patti reached the Exumas chain in the Bahamas, and were never again seen alive. Their blood-spattered boat, riddled with bullet holes, was found adrift off Pipe Cay in July 1980. A man\u2019s body, covered with sailcloth, was seen in the dinghy, but it disappeared before Bahamian authorities arrived to investigate. What happened to Bill and Patti Kamerer, and their bodies, during their fateful voyage?<\/p>\n
