(CBS12)  \u2014 A 19-year-old facing a<a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/news\/local\/deadly-shooting-fort-pierce-teen-shot-killed-at-chaotic-fort-lauderdale-airbnb-gathering-fort-lauderdale-police-department-crime-south-florida-news-southwest-16th-street-may-19-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> murder charge<\/a> is seeking another temporary release after recently being allowed to attend his father\u2019s funeral.<\/p>\n<p>According to court records filed on January 22, 2026, Larry Lamar Smith is requesting a temporary release to visit his newborn child. First responders found<a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/news\/local\/myrahs-life-matters-family-seeks-justice-after-fort-pierce-teen-killed-in-airbnb-may-20-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> Myrah Zeigler<\/a> lying in the street with a gunshot wound. She was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center \u2014 where she was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p>On July 6, Fort Lauderdale police stopped Larry Smith, 19, during a traffic operation. Officers discovered Smith had an outstanding warrant for second-degree murder in Zeigler\u2019s death and took him into custody without incident. He was booked at the Broward Main Jail without bond and faces a charge of second-degree murder. Court records showed he was previously arrested in Palm Beach County for trespassing and weapon-related charges just days before his murder. <\/p>\n<p>In August, a<a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/news\/local\/murder-suspect-granted-temporary-release-to-attend-fathers-funeral-after-airbnb-shooting-south-florida-treasure-coast-fort-pierce-news-w-8-avenue-and-sw-16-street-party-to-violence-august-8-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> Broward County Judge<\/a> approved a motion for Smith to be temporarily released from Broward County Jail so he could attend his father&#8217;s funeral. <\/p>\n<p>His release was concerning forZeigler&#8217;s mother who told CBS12 she didn&#8217;t understand how a murder suspect was allowed to leave jail, even for a few hours. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BROWARD COUNTY, Fla.
