The Rays have \u201cprivately shared a new cost estimate\u201d for the ballpark the club is hoping to build in Tampa<\/a>, with the figure coming in at $2.3B — \u201cnot including surrounding development.\u201d That estimate, given by Tampa Sports Authority CEO Eric Hart, is $1B \u201cmore than what the Rays had proposed\u201d to build a ballpark and mixed-use development in St. Petersburg two years ago<\/a>. The figure came out after a meeting of Sports Authority board members on Tuesday, where Hart was \u201cpeppered with questions about a preliminary agreement\u201d approved by Hillsborough College\u2019s Board of Trustees last week.
