On Monday, January 26th, 46-year-old John Fredrick Black was arrested in Texas and booked into the Harris County Jail on a warrant issued by the Leon County Sheriff\u2019s Office. The warrant stems from an undercover investigation into online child exploitation in Tallahassee.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, detectives with the Leon County Sheriff\u2019s Office Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) Unit began talking with Black on an online chat platform while posing as a 13-year-old child. During those conversations, Black continued communicating even after being told the person he was talking to was a minor and sent obscene material of himself to the undercover detective.<\/p>\n

As a result of the investigation, Black is charged with one count of distribution of obscene material to a minor, one count of unlawful use of a computer to seduce, solicit or lure a child and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communications device.<\/p>\n

The investigation further revealed that Black engaged in similar conversations with two additional minors on the same platform. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be filed pending further review.<\/p>\n

At the time of his arrest, he was employed as a sergeant with the Harris County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
