Work crews arrived at Cape Coral Yacht Club this week. They’re starting a big rebuilding project after a fire tore through the boathouse. Mayor John Gunter announced that contractors had mobilized on-site, kicking off the removal of charred docks and the replacement of crumbling seawalls.<\/p>\n

“The city says this work will help stabilize the waterfront and prepare the area for what’s next; a brand new boathouse,” said Gunter, according to WINK News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Kearns Group heads up the project. This engineering firm will handle design plans and permits. City leaders want something bigger and tougher than what burned down\u2014a building that won’t buckle when the next storm rolls in.<\/p>\n

“A boathouse that can withstand future storms and serve as a long-term centerpiece of the yacht club,” said Gunter.<\/p>\n

When construction starts remains unknown. But crews on-site signal that change has begun.<\/p>\n

The fire gutted the yacht club’s original building months ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Right now, workers focus on making the waterfront safe again. Damaged docks get hauled away while new seawalls go up, preparing the ground for what comes next.<\/p>\n

This marks a fresh start for the waterfront spot.
