The motorcyclist killed in a crash that shut down lanes on Interstate 75 in Weston on Tuesday night was identified as a retired Miami Beach police officer.<\/p>\n
The crash happened after 7 p.m. on I-75 south at exit 15 on Royal Palm\/Arvida Parkway.<\/p>\n
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Volkswagen Jetta and an Indian Challenger motorcycle were travelling southbound adjacent to each other. At some point, the Jetta’s back left collided with the motorcycle’s front right. <\/p>\n
After the crash, the motorcycle overturned and the driver was “separated” from the bike, authorities said. He was then hit by another car.<\/p>\n
The motorcyclist died at the scene, FHP said. <\/p>\n

The drivers were not injured and it is not clear if anyone will face charges.<\/p>\n Four lanes of traffic were shut down for the investigation, and the scene cleared after midnight, according to the Florida Department of Transportation’s traffic website.<\/a> <\/p>\n Video from the scene showed a yellow tarp on the leftmost lanes and a motorcycle that landed on its side. <\/p>\n The investigation continues. <\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
