LAKE ALFRED, Fla. \u2013 A Polk County substitute teacher was arrested Tuesday morning on a DUI charge in the school\u2019s parking lot, according to the sheriff\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
A school resource officer at Lake Alfred Polytech Academy spotted Micah Alan Dyal, 44, of Haines City, as he attempted to back out of a parking spot.<\/p>\n
According to the Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Dyal had \u201cmultiple obvious signs of impairment,\u201d including a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, while a field sobriety test was administered.<\/p>\n
The sheriff\u2019s office said Dyal consented to a blood draw and that a sample will be submitted for testing to determine his BAC.<\/p>\n
Polk County Public Schools released the following statement on his arrest:<\/p>\n
We commend our school staff for noticing that something was off, and not allowing this individual to proceed to the classroom yesterday. What a terrible decision and unacceptable behavior from someone working on a campus. This person will no longer have any involvement with PCPS.<\/p>\n
