(Photo by Jay Waagmeester\/Florida Phoenix)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Florida Senate President Ben Albritton was released from a Gainesville hospital Tuesday night after a multi-day hospitalization for a blood clot and \u201cpotential abnormality\u201d in his heart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Albritton, a Wauchula Republican, returned to Tallahassee late Tuesday from Gainesville\u2019s UF Health Shands Hospital. The \u201cpotential abnormality\u201d that doctors in the state\u2019s capital feared they\u2019d seen was either gone or, as Albritton put it, \u201cGod chose to heal it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cAbove all, I want to give glory to God, for protecting me and guiding us through this difficult time. By the grace of God and through His divine healing, I am getting better,\u201d the Senate President said Wednesday in a\u00a0 written statement. \u201cAdditionally, through the knowledge and wisdom He has given to so many medical professionals, I am fully informed and can make important decisions about my health moving forward. Praise God!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThe future is bright!\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Albritton will remain under the care of a hematologist and begin a new medication regime to prevent future blood clotting, he said. He expects to undergo multiple future appointments and screenings in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He first began experiencing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/articles\/senate-president-albritton-hospitalized-overnight-173530536.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:chest pains;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">chest pains<\/a> Sunday morning. That night, he went to the emergency room at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, where physicians discovered a blood clot in his lung. He was held there overnight, and doctors the following day found a \u201cpotential abnormality\u201d in the upper left portion of his heart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">So, Albritton was taken to Gainesville\u2019s Shands, two hours south.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Albritton plans on taking the next few days to recuperate alongside his wife, Missy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI have personally received over 500 text messages of well wishes and prayers from all over the state, not including emails and calls, or the hundreds of other messages received by Missy and Senate Staff in Tallahassee and back home in District 27,\u201d he said. \u201cMissy and I could not be more blessed in every single way.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Senate President Ben Albritton addresses reporters on Dec. 8, 2025, in advance of the 2026 legislative session.
