St. Petersburg police say the child’s body was found in a home on Tanglewood Drive Northeast, just north of Shore Acres.<\/p>\n
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. \u2014 A St. Pete mother is facing a first-degree murder charge after her four-year-old child was found dead by his teen sister, police said.<\/p>\n
The St. Pete Police Department said officers responded just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to a call about a person bleeding.<\/p>\n
At the scene, officials said that they spoke to the sister of the child, a 16-year-old girl, who said she got home from school and found her mother, 43-year-old Diana Cullom, holding her brother, Finley Cullom, in bed.<\/p>\n
Initially, police said that based on the evidence, Cullom stabbed her child. On Wednesday, they provided an update saying there were no stab wounds on him and that the medical examiners determined he was suffocated.<\/p>\n
Cullom did reportedly have self-inflicted stab wounds. She was transported to Bayfront Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
Cullom was released overnight, arrested and booked into jail around 2 a.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The 16-year-old sister also found a note in the house, which police believe was left by Cullom.<\/p>\n
“She found a note in the house, so we believe that the scene is contained within the home,” St. Pete Police Chief Anthony Holloway said. “We don’t believe there is any danger to anyone in the community.”<\/p>\n
The father was also being interviewed by police, according to the chief.<\/p>\n
