{"id":135225,"date":"2026-01-28T18:10:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-28T18:10:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/135225\/"},"modified":"2026-01-28T18:10:18","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T18:10:18","slug":"crews-begin-demolition-of-shuttered-frito-lay-plant-in-orlando","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/135225\/","title":{"rendered":"Crews begin demolition of shuttered Frito-Lay plant in Orlando"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 The Frito-Lay plant in Orlando is being reduced to rubble.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">News 6 captured video as construction crews tore down the 60-year-old plant on John Young Parkway on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clickorlando.com\/news\/local\/2025\/11\/04\/frito-lay-plant-in-orlando-set-to-close-company-announces\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.clickorlando.com\/news\/local\/2025\/11\/04\/frito-lay-plant-in-orlando-set-to-close-company-announces\/\">potato-chip maker announced the plant would close in November<\/a>, laying off 454 workers. Another 46 people were also laid off at a nearby facility off Princeton Street.<\/p>\n<p>Crews tearing down the old Frito-Lay plant in Orlando. (Copyright 2026 by WKMG ClickOrlando &#8211; All rights reserved.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThis was a difficult decision, as we know how much this site and its people mean to the Orlando community,\u201d the company said at the time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The plant, first built in 1965, was 186,681 square feet in size, according to Orange County Property Appraiser records.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">No word on what will happen to the property.<\/p>\n<p>Crews tearing down the old Frito-Lay plant in Orlando.
