Amid her criticism of the Trump administration\u2019s ruthless immigration crackdown<\/a>, Ileana Garcia, a Florida state senator and cofounder of Latinas for Trump, is fighting with Stephen Miller\u2019s wife<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the\u00a0New York Times<\/a>, the Republican and Cuban American state senator said the Republican Party will lose in the upcoming midterm elections if the administration continues its harsh immigration enforcement, pointing the finger squarely at Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff and architect behind Trump\u2019s draconian immigration policies that have resulted in federal agents killing two U.S. citizens in Minnesota<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do think that he will lose the midterms because of Stephen Miller,\u201d Garcia told the publication. <\/p>\n

After the story hit X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Miller\u2019s wife Katie, a native of Broward County, came to her man\u2019s defense. <\/p>\n

\u201cIleana was fired from DHS in Trump\u2019s first term because she failed to show up to work,\u201d Katie, host of the Katie Miller Podcast, wrote on X.<\/p>\n

Garcia, who represents parts of Miami-Dade County, bit back, accusing Miller of calling her husband (then-boyfriend) a racist and leaking information to the press while serving as a spokesperson for the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) <\/a>from 2017 to 2019 under then-U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, who oversaw the controversial family separation policy<\/a> at the border. The couple married in February 2020 at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

Prior to her election in 2020, Garcia worked in the first Trump administration as the first female Hispanic deputy press secretary at DHS. She said she didn\u2019t like Miller back then, when he was serving as the president\u2019s senior advisor and director of speechwriting.<\/p>\n

Before the public feud between Katie and Garcia, the state senator criticized Miller for labeling Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care nurse and U.S. citizen<\/a> killed by a U.S. Border Patrol agent on January 24, a domestic terrorist and assassin.<\/p>\n

\u201cDistorting, politicizing, slandering \u2013 justifying what happened to Alex Pretti contradicts the American values the administration campaigned on,\u201d she posted on X on Monday. \u201cHe was neither a domestic terrorist nor an assassin.\u201d<\/p>\n

She followed up to say that she is not afraid of Miller. <\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time I criticize Stephen Miller, I get doxxed,\u201d she wrote on Tuesday morning. \u201cWhy have we become everything we\u2019ve criticized? I\u2019m not afraid of you, Stephen Miller.\u201d<\/p>\n
