<\/p>\nThis is extremely uncommon in Central Florida. It requires a surge of unseasonably cold Arctic air, onshore winds, and a prolonged period of wind over warm Gulf waters that align at the same time.<\/p>\n
When could it snow in Tampa? <\/p>\n
If anything were to happen, it would be during the coldest part of the upcoming stretch (early Sunday morning). A few flurries, with little to no accumulation, would be most likely right along the coast.<\/p>\n
The National Weather Service says there is a narrow window from 11 p.m. on Saturday to 7 a.m. on Sunday when there is a small chance of snow flurries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, it\u2019s important to note that the vast majority of current forecast models do not predict snow.<\/p>\n
Where could it snow in the Bay Area? <\/p>\n
Of the small number that do, the signal is mainly limited to coastal areas of Citrus<\/a>, Hernando<\/a>, Pinellas<\/a> and Pasco Counties<\/a>.<\/p>\n The backstory:<\/p>\n While many in the Bay Area may compare this potential to the infamous 1977 snow event in Tampa,<\/a> that was notably not a Gulf effect snow event.<\/p>\n It came from an upper-level disturbance (at a much larger scale) that coincided with its own blast of freezing temperatures. That was a far more predictable setup.<\/p>\n What’s next:<\/p>\n Regardless, a prolonged blast of cold air is on the way.
