Florida State<\/a>‘s running backs coach Kam Martin is been working like a madman to secure talent for the Seminoles in the 2027 recruiting cycle. After visiting blue-chip recruit Caden Waye<\/a> in Georgia, Martin made his way to the state of Texas on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

He linked up with another blue-chip prospect. It was Waco Midway High School star Lathan Whisenton. The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder tipped his hat to Martin via social media.<\/p>\n

“Thanks for coming over today! @TeamKamMartin @FSUFootball,” Whisenton wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Whisenton is the No. 295 player nationally and the No. 22 running back according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also the No. 42 prospect in the state of Texas.<\/p>\n

His sophomore year was a good one in 2024. Whisenton ran for 1,286 yards and scored 18 touchdowns, and he added another 81 receiving yards. He would rush for 1,502 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior while also racking up 102 yards receiving.<\/p>\n

FSU extended an offer to Whisenton earlier this month. However, he hasn’t taken a visit yet.<\/p>\n
