Gervonta Davis was taken into custody in Miami on Wednesday according to TMZ<\/a>, two weeks after an arrest warrant was issued for the former champion boxer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Davis’ arrest comes after two weeks of searching by the Miami Gardens Police Department and U.S. Marshals. It’s unclear how he was ultimately tracked down.<\/p>\n

Davis faces charges of battery, false imprisonment and attempted kidnapping over an incident involving an ex-girlfriend at a gentleman’s club, where she was working as a waitress. The details of the incident were laid out in a lawsuit filed by the woman in October<\/a>, which caused Davis’ exhibition match with Jake Paul to fall through<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit claims Davis grabbed the woman’s hair and throat in the back room of the club and dragged her down a stairway and into a parking garage. The woman, who was reportedly in a relationship with Davis for five months, escaped with minor injuries after reaching the garage and returned to her co-workers for safety.<\/p>\n

Police have said that surveillance footage corroborates the woman’s account.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit also claims that Davis has threatened to kill the woman on multiple occasions, including an incident in September in which he texted her “I’ll kill you” while accusing her of infidelity. He is also accused of choking her in public at a restaurant that same day.<\/p>\n

The allegations have already had significant repercussions for Davis, who lost an eight-figure payday when the Paul fight was pulled. The YouTuber-turned-boxer, who pivoted to fighting Anthony Joshua instead, called Davis an “actual walking human piece of garbage” and “woman abuser” in the aftermath<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Davis was also stripped of his WBA lightweight belt last week<\/a>, officially due to inactivity. He has fought only twice in the past 33 months, and one of those fights was the highly controversial draw against Lamont Roach Jr., in which a clear referee error cost Roach the win<\/a>.<\/p>\n

These are far from the only domestic violence allegations against Davis, who was also arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge last year over a June incident in which he was accused of hitting a different ex-girlfriend. That charge was later dropped after the alleged victim refused to prosecute<\/a>.<\/p>\n
