A Tampa man faces charges after an incident in Brooksville, marked by a chase and alleged threats against an officer.<\/p>\n

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. \u2014 A Tampa man was arrested in Brooksville after allegedly trying to flee<\/a> from law enforcement, threatening a trooper and resisting arrest, according to an arrest affidavit from the Florida Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n

According to an arrest report, on Monday night, troopers arrested James Carlton, 41, of Tampa. The incident occurred on Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville.<\/p>\n

The arresting trooper stated in the report that Carlton threatened”violence” against him while FHP was trying to stop him. Then, Carlton tried to flee the scene while his car was attached to another vehicle, the report says.<\/p>\n

“While having knowledge that he had been directed to stop by a duly authorized police officer, did then and there willfully refuse or fail to stop,” the report reads.<\/p>\n

The report states that Carlton drove on highways, “disregarding safety” of people and property, and states that the man “ran multiple red lights, failed to maintain lane of travel, drove the wrong way multiple times.”<\/p>\n

In photos shared by the FHP, multiple cars are shown at the scene when Carlton was arrested. And a police car appears to be damaged.<\/p>\n

Carlton was ultimately detained and arrested. The man is now facing charges for reckless driving, fleeing to elude law enforcement officers and assault of a law enforcement officer, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Carlton was taken to the Hernando County Jail.<\/p>\n
