(WCTV) &#8211; A new historical marker was unveiled Thursday afternoon near Lake Lafayette at the trailhead of the Alford Greenway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The marker commemorates Native American cultures that were in Tallahassee thousands of years ago. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Block-Sterns site was the hub of Swift Creek culture and evidence revealed multiple earthen mounds and an extensive trade network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-center article-text\">More Tallahassee news:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">President of the Tallahassee Historical Society Bob Holladay said the marker is important for the community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cLand is being used up and developed and so forth, and our past is getting literally buried. This is a way to make sure that what was here first, or earlier, is not forgotten.
