{"id":137008,"date":"2026-01-30T00:55:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T00:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/137008\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T00:55:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T00:55:07","slug":"land-trust-files-application-for-20-20-purchase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/137008\/","title":{"rendered":"Land trust files application for 20\/20 purchase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ogden_images.s3.amazonaws.com\/florida.ogdennews.com\/images\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/29112750\/Conservation-2020-Application-Glover-Bight-Land.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Conservation 2020 Application \u2013 Glover Bight Land<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An application has been submitted to Lee County\u2019s Conservation 20\/20 program, offering to sell a 102-acre riverfront parcel at the southern tip of the Cape Coral.<\/p>\n<p>The parcel is across from Tarpon Point and west of the 350-acre Redfish Pointe riverfront site for which a land use change has been sought to allow for development.<\/p>\n<p>The application was submitted by Noel Davies, trustee of the Glover Bright Land Trust, on Dec. 17, 2025. <\/p>\n<p>The application authorizes Lee County to evaluate the property for potential purchase in the Conservation Lands Program and states the owner is willing to consider a fair market value offer for the purchase. <\/p>\n<p>The property lies off Glover Bright\/Redfish Point along the north shore of the Caloosahatchee River, which wraps around the Cape near Tarpon Point Marina and the Weston Resort.  <\/p>\n<p>The application states \u201cthis particular site is still in pristine condition with areas of natural mangrove lagoons and tidal pools, sea grapes, and cocoplums as a dominant woody vegetation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The application also includes information about surrounding waterways being identified as an important breading area for the endangered smalltooth sawfish. <\/p>\n<p>It has the potential for passive recreational development, the application states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe southern shoreline of the property has a beach that can be easily landed on with a boat and there is walkable access to the interior of the site where the uplands are found. The northern shoreline of the property\u2019s natural cape provides for perfect dockage and a possible marina location due to its large cove and proximity to Tarpon Point Marina.
