Tallahassee, Fla.\u2014 Florida A&M University (FAMU) will launch Digital Rattler Initiative 2.0 during
\n the third annual Strike Forward Academic Success Summit on Saturday, Jan. 31, expanding
\n the University\u2019s digital access program to include all first-year and new transfer
\n students, each of whom will receive an iPad to support digital fluency and career
\n readiness.<\/p>\n
Students will receive their iPads this Friday and are encouraged to bring the devices
\n to the summit, where the technology will be integrated into keynote programming and
\n interactive workshops. More than 800 students have registered for the two-day event
\n being held at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Auditorium in the FAMU College of Pharmacy
\n and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we continue to push the boundaries of excellence at Florida A&M University, the
\n Digital Rattler Initiative 2.0 and the Academic Success Summit serve as bold testaments
\n to our culture of innovation, said Allyson L. Watson, Ph.D., provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. \u201cBy placing industry-leading technology directly into the hands of our first-year
\n and transfer students, we are not just narrowing the digital divide; we are empowering
\n the next generation of Rattlers to graduate as digitally fluent leaders and the primary
\n architects of their professional futures.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n the campus Suitable app for completing engagement activities during the Strike Forward
\n Academic Success Summit.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Strike Forward Academic Success Summit will feature a keynote address by FAMU
\n alumna Imani Jennings, who leads partnership and operational strategy for all of Google\u2019s Code Next labs
\n and virtual spaces. The event also includes interactive workshops led by nationally recognized companies
\n engaged in educational technology for higher learning, including Apple, Adobe, PropelU,
\n and additional industry leaders.<\/p>\n
University leaders view the summit as a critical step toward advancing institutional
\n priorities in student achievement, persistence, and graduation. The University\u2019s current
\n academic persistence rate among first-time-in-college students has risen to 98.1%,
\n up 2 points from last year. That student-centered focus is central to the vision guiding
\n the summit.<\/p>\n

During the summit, students will have the chance to earn a digital badge recognizing
\n them as \u201cDigitally Equipped. Career Ready\u201d upon completing learning and engagement
\n activities during the interactive workshops.<\/p>\n
Digital Rattler Initiative 2.0 and the Strike Forward Academic Success Summit are
\n coordinated through the Division of Academic Affairs and reflect FAMU\u2019s Boldly Striking
\n strategy\u2014ensuring every student is supported, empowered, and positioned for long-term
\n success.<\/p>\n
