{"id":137203,"date":"2026-01-30T04:12:15","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T04:12:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/137203\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T04:12:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T04:12:15","slug":"famu-expands-digital-rattler-initiative-at-academic-success-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/137203\/","title":{"rendered":"FAMU Expands Digital Rattler Initiative at Academic Success Summit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Expanded program provides iPads to first-year and new transfer students to support digital fluency and career readiness.<\/p>\n<p>Tallahassee, Fla.\u2014 Florida A&amp;M University (FAMU) will launch Digital Rattler Initiative 2.0 during<br \/>\n                        the third annual Strike Forward Academic Success Summit on Saturday, Jan. 31, expanding<br \/>\n                        the University\u2019s digital access program to include all first-year and new transfer<br \/>\n                        students, each of whom will receive an iPad to support digital fluency and career<br \/>\n                        readiness.<\/p>\n<p>Students will receive their iPads this Friday and are encouraged to bring the devices<br \/>\n                        to the summit, where the technology will be integrated into keynote programming and<br \/>\n                        interactive workshops. More than 800 students have registered for the two-day event<br \/>\n                        being held at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Auditorium in the FAMU College of Pharmacy<br \/>\n                        and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we continue to push the boundaries of excellence at Florida A&amp;M University, the<br \/>\n                        Digital Rattler Initiative 2.0 and the Academic Success Summit serve as bold testaments<br \/>\n                        to our culture of innovation, said Allyson L. Watson, Ph.D., provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. \u201cBy placing industry-leading technology directly into the hands of our first-year<br \/>\n                        and transfer students, we are not just narrowing the digital divide; we are empowering<br \/>\n                        the next generation of Rattlers to graduate as digitally fluent leaders and the primary<br \/>\n                        architects of their professional futures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Digital Rattler Initiative\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1024x768_IMGEDRIBadge.gif\" alt=\"Digital Rattler Initiative\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"\/> This year, first-year and new transfer students will receive a digital badge through<br \/>\n                              the campus Suitable app for completing engagement activities during the Strike Forward<br \/>\n                              Academic Success Summit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Strike Forward Academic Success Summit will feature a keynote address by FAMU<br \/>\n                        alumna Imani Jennings, who leads partnership and operational strategy for all of Google\u2019s Code Next labs<br \/>\n                           and virtual spaces. The event also includes interactive workshops led by nationally recognized companies<br \/>\n                        engaged in educational technology for higher learning, including Apple, Adobe, PropelU,<br \/>\n                        and additional industry leaders.<\/p>\n<p>University leaders view the summit as a critical step toward advancing institutional<br \/>\n                        priorities in student achievement, persistence, and graduation. The University\u2019s current<br \/>\n                        academic persistence rate among first-time-in-college students has risen to 98.1%,<br \/>\n                        up 2 points from last year.
