The Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> must figure out the future of running back Travis Etienne this offseason.<\/p>\n

Etienne is set to hit free agency in the spring, and though he has posted three 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his first four years, the Jaguars may not want to commit to him on a long-term contract.<\/p>\n

As a result, Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay<\/a> predicts Etienne will leave Jacksonville in free agency and sign with the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here is what Kay said about Etienne’s potential fit in Kansas City:<\/p>\n

“With the superstar signal-caller now working his way back from a major knee injury, the Chiefs must bring in an upper-echelon back who can shoulder a large chunk of the offensive load in 2025. Etienne fits the bill as a do-it-all playmaker who can give this flailing backfield a much-needed shot in the arm.”<\/p>\n

It’s hard not to get excited about a potential Etienne pairing with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes on the Chiefs.<\/p>\n

The Clemson product’s dynamic and versatile skill set would be a perfect fit for Reid’s offense, as Etienne can impact the game on the ground and through the air.<\/p>\n

Etienne tallied a career-high six receiving touchdowns in 2025, and nearly had 1,400 scrimmage yards for the third time. The 27-year-old would be the ideal starting running back in Kansas City’s offense.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs are in a horrible cap situation heading into the offseason, as the franchise is slated to be $62 million under the cap.<\/a><\/p>\n

However, Kansas City should be able to create a ton of cap room by restructuring contracts and making cuts.<\/p>\n

Etienne isn’t expected to land a lucrative deal in free agency, as Spotrac projects the veteran running back will receive a contract worth around $7 million annually.<\/a><\/p>\n

If the Chiefs can find enough money to sign Etienne, it should be a no-brainer move from general manager Brett Veach. Kansas City must support Mahomes with as much talent as possible, and adding Etienne to the offense would immediately bolster a major position of need on the unit.<\/p>\n
