The Captiva Island Historical Society (CIHS) hosted \u201cCreativity and the Art of History\u201d on Jan. 14 at the Captiva Civic Center on Captiva. It took an intimate look at the island history-centered art of resident, artist and author Ilie Ruby. Directors Betty Anholt and Brian Holaway provided information about the CIHS archives, while Ruby discussed her art and mixed media that she used. Attendees got a look at how history and archival discoveries inspire art and storytelling, while learning how images, stories and small details from the past can spark creative ideas. The program tied in with Ruby\u2019s exhibit, \u201cLanguage of Angels: Daughters of the Sea and Sky,\u201d which the Captiva Civic Association is hosting through today, Jan. 30, at the center. Florida Trust Wealth Management is the presenting sponsor for the CIHS\u2019s season.<\/p>\n
