FLORIDA \u2013 Temperatures will drop below freezing this weekend in parts of Florida, but it\u2019s not the coldest weather the state has experienced.<\/p>\n
The words Florida and frigid weather don\u2019t usually go together, but Mother Nature has proven otherwise with record-breaking cold in the past.<\/p>\n
In 1966, Alma recorded a low of 10 degrees, Saint Simons hit 15 degrees, and both Jacksonville and Gainesville saw temperatures drop to 20 degrees.<\/p>\n
Despite the chill, some locals took advantage of more typical winter weather today.<\/p>\n
Shaeniya Robinson and friends enjoyed a picnic and painting outdoors. \u201cWe just wanted to get out of the house,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
While Friday\u2019s temperatures reached the upper 60s, a sharp drop is expected soon.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s definitely going to affect it,\u201d said Jennifer Moody, owner of Delicious Duval Dogs. \u201cI don\u2019t think anybody\u2019s going to be out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Moody plans to move her hotdog cart indoors to stay warm and keep serving customers.<\/p>\n
With frigid temperatures expected to linger into the workweek, staying indoors is likely the best plan for most.<\/p>\n
