A 14-year-old boy in Port St. Lucie was arrested on Sunday after he posted a bomb threat toward his school on TikTok, police said.<\/p>\n
The teen was charged with electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury or conduct an act of terrorism.<\/p>\n
NBC6 is not identifying the teen because he is a minor.<\/p>\n
According to Port St. Lucie Police, at around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, they received calls from parents who were concerned about a video that was posted online threatening Southport Middle School.<\/p>\n
A screenshot of the video was provided to officers, which had a caption that reads “On Monday The 20th Southport middle Is getting bombed by me. Stay home alright.\u201d<\/p>\n
As officers began to investigate the source of the video, they found the TikTok account belonged to a user called “Benjamin Franklyn.”<\/p>\n
Utilizing IP address data, detectives were led to a home in Port St. Lucie, where they found the 14-year-old who created the TikTok account and went to the middle school.<\/p>\n
It was determined that the threat was a prank, and the teen did not have the material needed to make a bomb.<\/p>\n
