(WCJB) &#8211; Governor Ron DeSantis is announcing statewide events to celebrate the United States\u2019 250th anniversary, and some are in our area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe are planning a series of events, exhibits, and opportunities statewide for Floridians to celebrate the \u2018Spirit of \u201976.\u2019 Florida is proud to lead with celebrations that promote civic virtue, historical education, and patriotic pride,\u201d said Governor DeSantis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Florida Department of Transportation is partnering with NASCAR for a race called \u201cAmerica 250 Florida Duel at Daytona.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Admission is also waived for state parks from Feb. 13 through Feb. 16, in honor of George Washington\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The governor identified what he calls \u201c14th Colony Heritage Sites &amp; America 250 Florida Road Trip\u201d stops, including Payne\u2019s Prairie and Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcjb.com\/newsletter\/\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Click here<\/a> to subscribe to our newsletter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 WCJB.
