February is a huge month for sports. Athletic competition unites everyone and inspires pride in our country and communities through the athletes and their sportsmanship. From the Super Bowl to the Winter Olympics, every evening is sure to have a storyline. Broward County will be well represented throughout these events and we wish them luck in their respective sports. Go Team USA, bring home the gold!\n<\/p>\n

Ready, set, action! The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary from February 20th through February 28th at Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale and Cinema Paradiso in Hollywood. This event will feature 10 days of film and present films made in South Florida, and from around the world. The event is produced by the Broward Film Society and will showcase genres from across the spectrum. View the schedule at fliff.com<\/a> and enjoy the show!<\/p>\n

Are you ready for a world-class art experience right in our backyard? Ignite Broward returns to Broward February 13-22. Three locations will feature light displays in \u00a0 Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach and Hollywood . These world-class, interactive and immersive projections will light up the night. Admission is FREE at all sites for the festival, and the exhibition is open to all ages. This event is presented by Broward County Cultural Division and is produced by MAD Arts. February 14 marks the 8th anniversary of the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. If you or someone you know is in need of support, please reach out to the 211 helpline, or one of the many local resources available, like Eagles Haven, that provide resources and support daily. Even though the years may pass, we will never forget those lost and those who continue their legacy.<\/p>\n

Finally, February is Black History Month. The month was originally designated to coincide with the February birthdays of Frederick Douglas and Abraham Lincoln.
