For families of the working poor, providing children with a healthy smile often means choosing between rent, groceries, or dental care. That\u2019s where the Coral Gables Woman\u2019s Club steps in.<\/p>\n

For more than eight decades, club members have helped children throughout Miami-Dade County regain healthy smiles at no cost to their families. What began as a project of the Coral Gables Junior Woman\u2019s Club continued when the two clubs merged, evolving into a vital community resource that now provides approximately $225,000 in free dental care annually for school-aged children in need.<\/p>\n

The clinic is the primary beneficiary of the club\u2019s ballroom rentals and fundraising efforts.<\/p>\n

For decades, the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation has been a major supporter. However, following the club\u2019s costly 40-year building inspection and the loss of rental revenue during COVID, ongoing funding is more critical than ever.<\/p>\n

To help meet this need, the club is directing proceeds from upcoming events to support the clinic. Monthly Gringo Bingo and karaoke nights at Birdie Bistro continue to raise vital funds, with the next Gringo Bingo set for Feb. 10.<\/p>\n

The Jan. 13 event raised approximately $1,600, thanks to generous sponsors Lynn Bauer and Dr. Hal Wanless, Jerome Kavulich, Tom and Kim Davison, EZ Title Service, and 1st Premier Elite Financial Services (Liz and Frank Gamez).<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the club\u2019s signature spring fundraiser will be a Mother\u2019s Day Tea on May 7, with more details coming soon.<\/p>\n

Families are also invited to the Coral Gables Children\u2019s Festival on Feb. 7, a free community event featuring interactive activities, demonstrations, yoga, food, and more. Kudos to education chair Debbie Courtney for coordinating this fun-filled day for kids.<\/p>\n

In other news, South Florida PBS hosted a VIP preview of its new Titanic Immersive Experience on Jan. 14. President and CEO Dolores Fernandez Alonso joined board members for the ribbon cutting.<\/p>\n

Guests enjoyed themed appetizers, virtual photo experiences, a band much like the one on the Titanic, and some of the exhibits. The attraction officially opened to the public on Jan. 30 and joins the popular Pharaoh Immersive Experience, both located in Boynton Beach. It\u2019s well worth the trip.<\/p>\n
