The island community will have the chance this weekend to meet its firefighters and more.<\/p>\n
The Captiva Island Fire Control District will hold its Annual Open House on Feb. 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the fire station, at 14981 Captiva Drive, Captiva. The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s our Annual Open House for the community to come and see the station and interact,\u201d Fire Chief Jeff Pawul said. \u201cAnd for us to say thanks, cook some food and give back to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The downstairs area of the station will be open for those who want to tour part of the facility.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll have all of our equipment on display,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fire engine for the kids,\u201d Pawul added.<\/p>\n
The district will also have its new highwater vehicle on site for attendees to see.<\/p>\n
Burgers and hot dogs will be provided, along with water and soda.<\/p>\n
All ages are welcome.<\/p>\n
\u201cCome and go as you please,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The community is invited to come out and take part.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great time for us to meet our community and residents, and for you to meet your local firefighters,\u201d Pawul said.<\/p>\n
