Scammers calling Floridians, asking for children\u2019s information<\/p>\n

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. \u2013 The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is warning residents of an Amber Alert scam happening across the state.<\/p>\n
According to FDLE, scammers are calling people and claiming to be with \u201cAmber Alert\u201d and asking for children\u2019s information to schedule an \u201cAmber kit appointment.\u201d<\/p>\n
If you receive a call, you should:<\/p>\n
Not provide any personal information<\/p>\n
Hang up immediately<\/p>\n
Contact local law enforcement agency to report the call<\/p>\n
\u201cNo legitimate program pre\u2011registers children for AMBER Alerts, collects information ahead of time, or schedules home visits. AMBER Alerts are only issued after a child goes missing and law enforcement confirms the criteria are met,\u201d FDLE said.<\/p>\n
