Team USA<\/a>\u00a0is gearing up for the\u00a02026 Milan Cortina Olympics<\/a>. Among the Olympians representing the U.S., 12 have lived in Florida at one point or another.<\/p>\n

From\u00a0local university grads to Miami natives, Floridian athletes have sledded, skated and skied their way to the world stage. Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn<\/a>, who recently made her return to the alpine ski circuit, escaped the cold<\/a> to live in Miami. Hockey brother duo<\/a> Quinn Hughes and Jack Hughes were both born in Orlando before their family moved north to Toronto.<\/p>\n

Later this week at the Opening Ceremony<\/a>, two Floridians, Erin Jackson and Frank Del Duca, will be U.S. flag bearers<\/a>. Jackson and fellow speed skater Brittany Bowe were both born and raised in Ocala. Bowe credits much of her success<\/a> to her hometown inline skating coach Renee Hildebrand.<\/p>\n

Nationwide, Utah leads the pack with 61 athlete ties. Although Florida has far fewer Winter Olympians, it still beats the 14 states with no ties to Team USA<\/a> \u2014 including most southeastern states.<\/p>\n
