(WCTV\/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) &#8211; The Senate unanimously passed a bill that requires local governments to adopt an ordinance allowing accessory dwelling units, or ADUs, in single-family neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">ADUs can be a wide range of things, from a mother-in-law suite to a guest house. Lawmakers see this as an opportunity to create more affordable housing options to the state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-center article-text\">More Florida politics:<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Many cities already have ordinances on the books regulating ADUs. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The bill now heads to the House, where it died during last year\u2019s regular session.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 WCTV.
