The mass shooting occurred after a group of what’s believed to be more than 15 people gathered for a fight related to a romantic dispute, Jacksonville police said.<\/p>\n
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 Four people, including a teenage girl, were shot Wednesday night during an incident in the Magnolia Gardens area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n
In a news briefing, Lieutenant Frederick Dash with JSO’s Robbery and Violent Crimes Unit said that police responded to a shooting on Begonia Road around 6 p.m. to find four victims. Three women, aged 47, 22, and 20, as well as a 17-year-old girl, were all shot at least once.<\/p>\n
A Jacksonville Fire and Rescue spokesperson said one of the women was transported in life-threatening condition. Later Wednesday night, JSO said all were stable and expected to survive.<\/p>\n
After an initial investigation, Lt. Dash said that police learned that a large group of “at least” 15 people had gathered in the street for a fight related to a romantic relationship some of them were involved in.<\/p>\n
Police were looking for three men for questioning Wednesday night. Lt. Dash described them as black men, wearing dark clothes and surgical masks, who left the scene in a silver SUV shortly after shots were fired.<\/p>\n
The exact motivation for the shooting, nor the number of shooters, was not immediately known. Lt. Dash said it is not believed to have been gang-related.<\/p>\n
