TPD crime incident numbers for January 2026 are in. The numbers show that property crime and violent crime incidents are up when compared to January 2025. The broader 12-month trends show that property incidents, after months of declining, have leveled out while violent crime incidents, after declining, are trending up.<\/p>\n

Over the last three months violent crime incidents related to assaults are up 29% when compared to the same three-month period in 2024. During this period in 2024 there were 163 reported assaults, compared to 210 assaults in 2025.<\/p>\n

The YTD Numbers<\/p>\n

The incident data -tabulated by TR \u2013 show that property crime incidents were up 24.2% and violent crime incidents are up 32.3% in January 2026 when compared to one year ago.<\/p>\n

Property crimes encompass burglaries, thefts, and incidents of vandalism. Violent incidents include aggravated assaults, armed robberies, and physical altercations.<\/p>\n

A look at specific crimes reveals the increase in property crime was driven by a 154.5% increase in commercial burglaries and a 39.4% increase in residential burglaries. The Auto Burglary & Theft category \u2013 which accounts for approximately 55% of all property crimes \u2013 was down 1.3%.<\/p>\n

The violent crime data shows that robbery incidents were up $110.0% while assault & battery incidents were up 17.3%.<\/p>\n

12-Month Trends<\/p>\n

The chart below shows the 12-month trends of property and violent crime incidents from December 2022 through December 2025.<\/p>\n

Property crime incidents began to decline in December 2024 and reached a 3-year low in October 2025. Since then, the change in property crime has remained flat.<\/p>\n

Violent crime incidents peaked in October 2023 and reached a 3-year low in June 2025. Since then, violent crime incidents have been trending up.<\/p>\n
