DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. \u2014 Authorities in Broward County announced the arrest of a woman in a fraud investigation.<\/p>\n
According to the Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office, Keshon Rivers, 32, used someone else money to pay for mansion rentals, cross-country private jet flights and expensive diamond jewelry.<\/p>\n
Investigators said between May and August of last year, Rivers operated a scheme to steal more than $1.2 million from the owners of a Deerfield Beach business, Event D\u00e9cor Direct. <\/p>\n
According to deputies, Rivers owned a business called Lock and Key Designs that had a working relationship with the victims while she was stealing from them. <\/p>\n
Additionally, authorities said Rivers created a \u201cfictitious individual who, when questioned, she blamed for the fraudulent credit card charges.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ultimately, detectives determined that no such person existed. <\/p>\n
Deputies said Rivers\u2019 fraudulent transactions included more than $85,000 for diamond and gold jewelry, more than $55,000 for a private jet from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles and more than $43,000 for mansion rentals in both Miami Beach and Los Angeles. <\/p>\n
Rivers was taken into custody on Wednesday and was taken to the Broward County Main Jail, where she remains without bond on charges of money laundering, grand theft of more than $100,000 and organized scheme to defraud. <\/p>\n
According to BSO, Rivers was already on probation for similar organized fraud charges out of Polk County.<\/p>\n
