Largo student participating in UA’s work\/study program<\/p>\n
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. \u2014 University of Alabama student Shea Schroeder of Largo is participating in UA’s Cooperative Education Program during the spring 2026 semester. Schroeder is working for Mercedes Benz, U.S. International.<\/p>\n
In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student.<\/p>\n
While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience. Participants maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.<\/p>\n
Heritage Village to mark 50 years<\/p>\n
LARGO \u2014 Heritage Village will mark the 50th anniversary of the park\u2019s creation with the \u201cPreserved with Love Anniversary Festival\u201d, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
The festival coincides with celebrations for America\u2019s 250th anniversary. The family-friendly event will include hands-on learning at the Historic Preservation Educational Station, a community market featuring local vendors and artisans, and the re-opening of the Sulphur Springs Exhibit.<\/p>\n
The day will be more memorable for some because the Village will conduct vow renewals inside the preserved historic church. Check with Heritage Village for a link to register.<\/p>\n
The park is located at 11909 125th St. N., Largo. Admission and parking are free. Donations are accepted.<\/p>\n
Largo seeks proposals to redevelop Highland property<\/p>\n
The city of Largo is inviting qualified development teams to submit proposals for the redevelopment of the city\u2019s municipal campus at 201 Highland Ave.<\/p>\n
The 14-acre property currently houses Largo City Hall, the Largo Police Department, and the Emergency Operations Center. City Hall is scheduled to relocate to Horizon West Bay in downtown Largo in the late spring, leaving the Highland property available.<\/p>\n
\u201c201 Highland Avenue is more than a development site; it is an opportunity to shape a defining chapter in Largo\u2019s evolution,\u201d said Largo Mayor Woody Brown. \u201cThe city is seeking a partner who understands the importance of creating a destination that is distinctly Largo \u2014 people-first, community-focused, and built for generations.\u201d<\/p>\n
The city\u2019s Request for Proposals (RFP) invites developers to submit plans for either a 7-acre southern portion or a full 14-acre site redevelopment. The RFP says both options should emphasize walkability, shaded public gathering areas, family-friendly amenities, safe mobility connections, and high-quality design.<\/p>\n
The city envisions \u201ca thoughtful blend\u201d of residential, retail, office, and public spaces, with outdoor gathering areas, biking and walking connections, recreational amenities, and neighborhood-serving commercial uses.<\/p>\n
CBRE is serving as the city\u2019s real estate development advisor, representing the city throughout the solicitation and negotiation process.<\/p>\n
