(WCTV) – Florida State has hired experienced leader Lindsay Allman as its next head volleyball coach, Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford announced Thursday.

Allman, who spent the previous four seasons as FSU’s associate head coach, brings five years of collegiate head coaching experience to the role. In addition to her time leading Indiana State, Allman also has experience as an assistant coach at Wake Forest, Bradley and Southern Miss.

“Lindsay Allman is a proven winner and a relentless competitor who knows how to compete and recruit at the highest level,” Alford said. “She brings a proven track record of building winning programs and developing elite student-athletes while leading with integrity and energy. Linsday understands what it takes to compete for championships, and she embodies the values that define Florida State both on and off the court.”

Allman’s previous responsibilities included serving as FSU’s recruiting coordinator and primarily working with the Seminoles’ outside hitters and Serve Receive, an area that has ranked in the top three of the ACC throughout her tenure. The 2025 season featured Iane Henke earning AVCA All-America honors, as well as first-team All-Region and second-team All-ACC recognition, and Kyleene Filimaua joining her on the all-region and all-conference teams. The duo ranked fourth and sixth, respectively, in the ACC in kills per set while also ranking in the top 10 of the conference in attacks per set, points per set, total kills and total attacks. Filimaua has developed into one of the top passing outsides in the country under Allman’s guidance.

In 2024, Allman helped lead Audrey Koenig and Khori Louis to All-America accolades. That year, the Seminoles had the ACC’s third-highest hitting percentage as a team while Louis led the conference and ranked eighth nationally in hitting percentage. Koenig ranked in the top 10 in the conference in aces per set, kills per set, points per set and service aces.

Allman helped lead Florida State to the 2023 ACC championship with a 16-2 mark in conference play. The Seminoles ranked second in the ACC in hitting percentage and kills and had the conference’s third-highest blocks total. Among individuals, Koenig was named the ACC Player of the Year, while Louis was second in the ACC and fourth in the country in hitting percentage. The ACC title was Florida State’s first conference crown since 2012. Prior to the season, Allman was named to the Volleyball Magazine Coaching Hotshots List.

“I want to thank Michael Alford, Cindy Hartmann and the entire hiring committee for their continued trust in me,” Allman said. “My family and I chose Tallahassee and Florida State for a reason, and without a doubt there is no other place like FSU. I want to thank Chris Poole for entrusting me four years ago and will forever cherish that we were able to bring another ACC title to Florida State together. I am honored for the opportunity to lead this program back to the top nationally and within the ACC.”

Allman’s five seasons at Indiana State culminated in 2021 with an 18-13 record, the program’s most wins since joining the Missouri Valley Conference in 1983. She also led the Sycamores to the semifinal round of the conference tournament and a bid to the National Invitational Volleyball Championships, the program’s first postseason appearance, that year. In her first season, she led Indiana State to a tie for fifth in the MVC standings, the program’s first top-five placing since 2003, and into the MVC Tournament semifinals for the first time in program history.

While at Indiana State, Allman recruited a nationally recognized class in 2020, which included Prep Volleyball All-American Mallory Keller. Allman developed multiple all-conference performers, led by second-team selections Laura Gross and Madeline Williams. She coached two MVC Freshman of the Week honorees after the program had only one recipient of the conference’s weekly honor in its history. Additionally, Allman’s squad earned the AVCA All-Academic Award in each of her five seasons.

Prior to her time as a head coach, Allman was Wake Forest’s assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the 2016 season, where she helped Caroline Rassenfoss and Caitlyn Della earn spots on the All-ACC Freshman Team. After the season, she was named interim head coach and was tasked with retaining current student-athletes and recruits while the program underwent a coaching transition.

She spent four seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Bradley. In 2013, she helped the Braves reach the MVC Tournament for the first time since 2005 after earning 13 wins and seven conference victories, both the program’s highest totals since 2005. While at Bradley, she recruited Erica Haslag who became the first freshman in program history to record 250 kills, 24 aces, 150 digs and 40 blocks and bookended her career with two first-team all-conference honors and being one of 30 players nationally named a Senior CLASS Award finalist.

Allman began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Southern Miss from 2009-10 before being promoted to assistant coach for the 2011 season. She coached under Olympic gold medalist Ricci Luyties and helped the Golden Eagles to a 27-5 overall record and the school’s first regular season conference title.

An accomplished collegiate student-athlete, Allman recorded more than 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs during a four-year playing career at Maine. She was a first-team all-conference performer and team captain her senior year and made the America East Honor Roll three times.

Originally from Saint Louis, Allman earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communication with minors in public relations and child development from Maine in 2009 and completed her master’s degree in social work from Southern Miss in 2011. Allman and her husband, Tallahassee native and Florida State graduate William Dehler, have two children.

To keep up with the latest news as it develops, follow WCTV on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Nextdoor and X (Twitter).

Have a news tip or see an error? Write to us here.
