JACKSONVILLE, Fla.\u00a0\u2013 North Florida Women’s Basketball fell to Stetson, 74-56, in UNF Arena Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

Junior guard Elle Blatchford<\/a> and junior guard Alonya Waldon<\/a> each tacked on 12 points to lead the Ospreys offensively.<\/p>\n

Blatchford finished 6-8 from the floor in 30 minutes. For Blatchford, it marked\u00a0her eighth game this season and 25th career game with 10 or more points.<\/p>\n

Waldon contributed 8-12 from the free throw line. It was her sixth ASUN contest, 11th game of the season and the 22nd game of her career with at least 10 points.<\/p>\n

After an 11-3 Stetson run to start game, North Florida battled back to tie the game, 13-13, at the 2:18 mark of the first quarter with freshman forward Dezuray McGill<\/a> converting on an and-one opportunity and sophomore guard Jamisyn Stinson<\/a> knocking down a three during that stretch. Stetson would regain the lead and take a 20-16 advantage into the second quarter.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stetson would grab their first double digit lead of the game during the 3:29 mark of the second quarter, 38-27. After an 8-0 Stetson run, Waldon fired in five-straight points to cut the Stetson lead to single digits, 41-32, with 29 seconds remaining the second quarter. Alonya Waldon<\/a> led the Ospreys with 10 first half points on 8-10 from the charity stripe.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After an 8-0 run from the Ospreys capped off by a layup from Waldon, UNF narrowed the margin to seven, 53-46, at the 1:57 mark of the third quarter. The score would remain a single-digit contest, as Stetson would take a 56-48 lead into the fourth quarter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Hatters would push their lead back out to double digits with a three at the 9:18 mark of the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n

North Florida would outscore its opponent in the third quarter, 16-12, in\u00a0points off turnovers, 16-15, in fast break points, 10-7 and in bench points, 19-12.<\/p>\n

North Florida welcomes West Georgia to UNF Arena on Saturday, Feb. 7.
