During a news conference in Pensacola on Wednesday, he explained that \u201cit just seems like the right time\u201d to leave Grand Rapids.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThat police department is 180 degrees different from where we started it,\u201d he told the Pensacola community. \u201cWe have filled every budgeted vacancy. We have grown the size of the police department. We have reduced crime enormously. We have made huge strides in protecting our homeless population. And it just seems like the right time.
