The Florida<\/a> Gators are on the hunt for their next head football coach following the dismissal of Billy Napier.<\/p>\n

The school and athletic director Scott Stricklin parted ways with Napier after the Gators’ two-point win over unranked Mississippi State this past Saturday, saying the now-former head coach “didn’t win to the level we needed to” over his four seasons in Gainesville.<\/p>\n

Florida owes Napier approximately $21 million for his contract buyout \u2014 a big expense as the school looks to sign a new high-profile coach.<\/p>\n

“We have tremendous resources, but it’s not unlimited so we’ll have to manage that,” Stricklin said, via ESPN. “The resources are not going to be a reason why we don’t make the right decision going forward here.”<\/p>\n

During the most recent episode of his “See Ball Get Ball” podcast, college football analyst David Pollack urged Florida to heavily pursue Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm as the Gators’ new program leader.<\/p>\n

Louisville is 5-1 to start the 2025 college football season, with their only loss coming in overtime against the Virginia Cavaliers. Brohm and the Cardinals mounted a massive 24-21 upset over the No. 2-ranked Miami Hurricanes this past weekend at Hard Rock Stadium.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s a bunch of people you can go after,\u201d Pollack said. \u201cThere\u2019s one guy who I don\u2019t know if he\u2019s going to be talked about a whole lot, but it\u2019s the first call I would make. I\u2019m not saying it\u2019s the right decision, but it\u2019s the first call I would make, and that would be Jeff Brohm.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d literally go right to the University of Louisville,\u201d he added. \u201cNot a second, man. Why would I do it? Because Jeff Brohm, he is an elite offensive mind. He\u2019s a top five play caller in all of college football. He\u2019s proven he can recruit. He can run so many different systems and mesh so many different systems really, really well. He knows how to beat\u00a0Miami. That\u2019s a good rival, like Florida, that he just beat. But I just think with the entertaining brand of football and the great coach that he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brohm, formerly the head coach of Western Kentucky and Purdue, took over as Louisville’s head coach before the 2023 season. Since then, he’s notched a 24-9 record with the program.<\/p>\n

Now led by interim head coach Billy Gonzales, the Gators are preparing for a highly-anticipated SEC matchup against the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs on Nov. 1.<\/p>\n
