{"id":14653,"date":"2025-10-21T22:05:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T22:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/14653\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T22:05:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T22:05:09","slug":"fort-lauderdale-pilot-under-investigation-over-plane-mystery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/14653\/","title":{"rendered":"Fort Lauderdale pilot under investigation over plane mystery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0October 21, 2025 at 5:52 PM<\/p>\n<p>Small plane skids off runway, Broward pilot abandons it <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.  \u2014 A 24-year-old pilot from Fort Lauderdale was under investigation after abandoning a 1972 Cessna Skyhawk on Tuesday in Naples. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Cessna Skyhawk departed shortly after 12:50 a.m. from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, circled several times over Fort Myers and again in Naples before arriving at Naples Airport shortly after 2:40 a.m., according to FlightAware data. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A spokesperson for the Naples Airport said they discovered the abandoned Cessna N20392 \u201cresting nose-down in the grass next to a runway\u201d at about 5 a.m. The airport\u2019s traffic control tower is closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The airport\u2019s spokesperson reported the pilot, Brianna Brown, \u201creturned around midday\u201d after a crew removed the disabled aircraft and placed it in a hangar. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cWe have since learned that the pilot slid off the runway &#8230; the pilot stated they notified staff,\u201d Lt. Bryan McGinn, a spokesman for the Naples Police Department, wrote in a statement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police officers filed an incident report, and the airport\u2019s authorities notified the Federal Aviation Administration.
