But the move immediately drew criticism.<\/p>\n

Fishback, a long-shot Republican candidate hoping to replace outgoing Governor Ron DeSantis, defended his approach by framing it as unconventional voter engagement. \u201cI\u2019ve joined @Tinder to meet young female voters where they are, and share my plan to make it easier for them to get married, buy a home, and raise a family,\u201d Fishback wrote.<\/p>\n

He also promoted what he called his \u201chottest take,\u201d arguing that Florida should \u201coffer paid maternity leave to all moms.\u201d However, the rollout quickly unraveled. After claiming he had \u201crun out of likes,\u201d Fishback asked supporters to donate so he could upgrade to Tinder Plus and \u201csee who likes my profile,” a move that only intensified criticism online.<\/p>\n

Social media users blasted the tactic as awkward and inappropriate. \u201cThis screams incel,\u201d one post read. Another added, \u201cYou are seriously the single MOST cringeworthy person to ever run for public office.\u201d<\/p>\n

The controversy also revived scrutiny of Fishback\u2019s past. According to NBC News<\/a>, a Florida school district previously cut ties with Fishback after a woman accused him of pursuing her when she was 17 and he was 27. She later filed for an order of protection in 2025. Fishback has denied the allegations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese allegations from several years ago are completely false,\u201d he said. \u201cI have never been arrested, charged, or convicted of any crime.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rain has been a vocal critic of Fishback\u2019s platform, particularly his proposal to heavily tax adult content creators, a policy he argues would fund teacher raises and improved school lunches across the state.<\/p>\n

As The Blast previously reported, Fishback’s proposed OnlyFans tax did not sit well with Rain, who has repeatedly called it sexist<\/a> and economically uninformed. \u201cI have not heard of this guy until now, and I have lived in Florida all my life. He\u2019s looking for clout,\u201d Rain told The Blast at the time. \u201cFirst of all, imposing a tax on OnlyFans girls is quite possibly the dumbest thing I\u2019ve ever heard of. I already pay my taxes, millions in taxes, actually.”<\/p>\n

Rain also pointed out Florida\u2019s central role in the creator economy, arguing that the proposal would likely backfire as\u00a0\u201cFlorida is OnlyFans central.”<\/p>\n

Rain didn\u2019t hold back when addressing Fishback\u2019s proposed OnlyFans \u201csin tax,\u201d making it clear she wasn\u2019t buying his reasoning. \u201cThe purpose of the sin tax in economics is to disincentivize and deter a behavior,\u201d Fishback previously told NXR Studios<\/a> in January. \u201cI don’t want young women… selling their bodies to sick men online.\u201d<\/p>\n
