Parkgoers at Universal\u2019s Volcano Bay will have a very different experience when it comes to making payments at the popular Orlando, Florida water park later this month.<\/p>\n
Effective February 25, the park will no longer accept cash payments, only allowing guests to pay via credit or debit card, tap-to-pay methods, with Universal Pay, or with Universal gift cards, reports WDW News Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n Though cash will no longer be accepted at the water park, visitors who want to pay with cash have an alternate option, as there will be cash-to-card kiosks available that will let guests load their cash onto Visa prepaid cards, reports Inside Universal<\/a>.<\/p>\n Related: I Ate My Way Through Universal Epic Universe, Here\u2019s What You Can\u2019t Miss When You Go<\/a><\/p>\n This change comes just months after the park announced that it was ending the TapuTapu wearable and virtual line. This complimentary wristband allowed guests to open rental lockers, access attractions, and join virtual queues, with the wristband vibrating when it was guests\u2019 turn to return.<\/p>\n Additionally, Volcano Bay is slated to close on October<\/a> 26 for seasonal maintenance, with an opening date on or before March 24, 2027.<\/p>\n Related: All the Rides at Universal Epic Universe, Including the Secret Attraction, Ranked<\/a><\/p>\n Last month, Volcano Bay was closed for several days<\/a>, including two consecutive days, due to unusually cold temperatures in the area. The park was shuttered on Wednesday, January<\/a> 28, and Thursday, January 29, \u201cdue to inclement weather,\u201d a social media announcement from Universal Orlando revealed.<\/p>\n Though temperatures in the Orlando area were considerably higher than some of the headline-making weather in other parts of the country at the same time, temperatures in the low 50s to 60s Fahrenheit made water activities both uncomfortable for guests and potentially unsafe.<\/p>\n According to the American Heart Association<\/a>, plunging into cold water under 60 degrees Fahrenheit can cause \u201ccold shock,\u201d which can affect breathing, blood pressure, and heart rate in a potentially dangerous way. It \u201ccan cause a person to drown within seconds if they involuntarily gasp while their head is submerged.
