DORAL, Fla. \u2014 Authorities say an employee was caught on camera stealing secret recipe books from a Doral restaurant, leading to his arrest on a felony charge on Monday.<\/p>\n
Investigators said staff at Mordisco Miami, located at 10355 NW 41st St., noticed that three of their recipe books had gone missing, reviewed their in-kitchen surveillance cameras and identified the culprit: line cook Carlos Francisco Gottberg Marquez.<\/p>\n
Police said Gottberg, 50, was seen stealing two cookbooks on Oct. 12 and the third on Sunday. Mordisco Miami \u201cspecializes in Venezuelan-style steaks, appetizers and handmade arepas,\u201d according to police.<\/p>\n
According to an arrest report, staff at Mordisco told police that Gottberg was at his second job on Monday.<\/p>\n
The report states that police went to the Shoma Bazaar food hall at 9420 NW 41st St. to take Gottberg into custody. <\/p>\n
Staffers there said Gottberg works at a sandwich and smoothie shop that doesn\u2019t sell Venezuelan food, so it was unclear what he planned to do with the books.<\/p>\n
Police said when they told Gottberg why they were detaining him, he said, in Spanish, \u201cIt\u2019s in my bike.\u201d<\/p>\n
After his arrest on a charge of theft of trade secrets, authorities said Gottberg made a \u201cfull confession,\u201d which was redacted from the report.<\/p>\n
He appeared in Miami-Dade bond court on Tuesday, where he was given a $2,500 bond.<\/p>\n
