TAMPA, Fla. \u2014 We have had cold weather this year, but we have not had a lot of rain. So, starting Sunday, water restrictions will be in effect.<\/p>\n

According to the Southwest Florida Water Management District, our area has a rainfall deficit of more than a foot. This is because of the drier than normal rainy season we had last summer.<\/p>\n

In response, the Southwest Florida Water Management District\u2019s order will reduce lawn watering to one day a week.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re wondering what day you can water, it will depend on the last number of your address.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Watering hours will be reduced to 12:01 a.m. to 8 a.m. or 6 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. If your property is less than one acre in size, you may only use one of the those time windows.<\/p>\n

If you have a low-volume watering system (micro-irrigation, soaker hoses, hand watering) used for watering plants and shrubs, not lawns, you are allowed to water any day and any time.<\/p>\n

The Southwest Florida Water Management District is also asking you to check with your local government for allowable hours or whether there are stricter hours<\/a>.<\/p>\n

These restrictions will be in place until July 1.<\/p>\n
