TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Traffic on Florida\u2019s rural roads is expected to increase by 73% by 2045, according to a new study by a national transportation research nonprofit (TRIP).<\/p>\n
The study shows that congestion and freight demands are increasing along with the population and economy of the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n
The report also touched on the dangers of this increase, as these roads reportedly have a high fatality rate.<\/p>\n

According to the report, 18% of Florida\u2019s deadly crashes are on rural non-interstate roads but these roads only account for 12% of Florida\u2019s vehicle travel.<\/p>\n
Director of Policy & Research, Rocky Moretti, said it\u2019s a difficult trend for rural communities in Florida to manage.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s a challenge in rural Florida. To make sure that these roadways are as safe as possible,\u201d Moretti said.<\/p>\n
