{"id":148105,"date":"2026-02-08T15:00:19","date_gmt":"2026-02-08T15:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/148105\/"},"modified":"2026-02-08T15:00:19","modified_gmt":"2026-02-08T15:00:19","slug":"falcons-james-pearce-jr-jailed-in-florida-after-domestic-incident-leads-to-pursuit-crash-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/148105\/","title":{"rendered":"Falcons\u2019 James Pearce Jr. jailed in Florida after domestic incident leads to pursuit, crash, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">DORAL, Fla. \u2013 NFL star linebacker James Pearce Jr. was arrested Saturday after fleeing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/02\/07\/doral-police-suspect-crashes-car-after-fleeing-domestic-dispute\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/02\/07\/doral-police-suspect-crashes-car-after-fleeing-domestic-dispute\/\">domestic dispute<\/a> and crashing his vehicle during a police chase, according to Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez and News 6 partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/02\/07\/falcons-lb-james-pierce-jr-arrested-after-police-chase-crash-in-doral-cops-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/02\/07\/falcons-lb-james-pierce-jr-arrested-after-police-chase-crash-in-doral-cops-say\/\">Local 10 News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Officers were initially dispatched to DPD headquarters for a reported dispute between a male and female. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Police said Pearce, 22, fled the scene and later crashed at Northwest 103rd Avenue and 66th Street before being placed in handcuffs. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Lopez confirmed with Local 10 News that the woman in the dispute was WNBA star Rickea Jackson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Jail records show Pearce is facing two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count each of aggravated stalking and fleeing or eluding police with lights or sirens. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Pearce was booked at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with his bond yet to be set as of Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">He was picked in the first round by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the runner-up for Defensive rookie of the year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Pearce had 10.5 sacks during his rookie year, the most by a Falcons rookie since Micah Parsons (Dallas Cowboys) in 2021.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Local 10 News has requested his arrest report from DPD and no other information was immediately released.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Falcons released the following statement: <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWe are aware of an incident involving James Pearce Jr., in Miami.
