\nThe Captiva Community Panel will present Notes & Narratives, featuring award-winning composer, synthesist and flutist Kat Epple, on Feb. 13 at the Captiva Civic Center on Captiva.<\/p>\n
An upcoming event will raise funds to support the work of the Captiva Community Panel (CCP).<\/p>\n
The CCP will host Notes & Narratives on Feb. 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Captiva Civic Center on the island. It will feature music and storytelling with musician Kat Epple, plus food and drinks.<\/p>\n
Panel Member and Development Committee Chair Margarethe Thye-Miville explained that the CCP was officially established in 2003 and the fundraiser will support its initiatives, projects and operations.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur goal is to keep Captiva the way we like it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The event will be a celebration of the island, with a Valentine\u2019s Day theme.<\/p>\n
Epple is an Emmy and a Peabody award-winning composer, synthesist and flutist.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019ll play for us,\u201d Thye-Miville said. \u201cShe\u2019s quite an amazing musician.\u201d<\/p>\n
Epple has written music for several documentaries, including \u201cOn Sanibel: The Hurricane Diaries\u201d by islander Laura DeBruce. She also plays flutes from around the world, like metal, wood and ceramic.<\/p>\n
During the program, Epple will pause to share commentary.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will be three brief interruptions,\u201d she said. \u201cShe\u2019ll talk about the Calusa Indians. About Bob Rauschenberg \u2014 she was a very dear friend of his \u2014 and animals, like manatees and ospreys.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hors d\u2019oeuvres will be provided.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome of them are Valentine\u2019s style,\u201d Thye-Miville said.<\/p>\n
Attendees will also enjoy an open bar with soda, mixed drinks and more.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll have different kinds of wine,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
