at this link<\/a>).<\/p>\n\u201cWe just had a show last night in Pennsylvania,\u201d Crofts says in a telephone interview. \u201cWe opened up for Little River Band, which we\u2019ve done a few times now. They gave us a standing ovation, and then they rushed the stage. They wanted to shake our hands.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey were so lovely, so warm and so appreciative \u2013 some of them had tears in their eyes. \u2018Thank you for doing this. We\u2019ve missed this music. We loved Seals & Crofts.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Mostly acoustic (with guitar and mandolin at the foundation, with close-harmony singing) Seals & Crofts\u2019 music included a handful of charting songs (including \u201cSummer Breeze,\u201d \u201cHummingbird,\u201d \u201cDiamond Girl\u201d and \u201cWe May Never Pass This Way Again\u201d), along with the rhythm \u2018n\u2019 blues crooner \u201cGet Closer\u201d \u2013 and a vast catalogue of \u201cdeep cuts\u201d from a half-dozen platinum albums.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the daughter, I knew the hits and stuff,\u201d Crofts explains. \u201cBut when Brady and I started putting this together, and we started going through the catalogue to see what we could learn and put in the show, I started to uncover all these songs. And I\u2019m like \u2018Oh my gosh, these are amazing.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cTo think that they only had a really short period of time for their success, and their music still lives on and still touches people, goes to show the quality of their music, and their musicianship. The sound that they created. It\u2019s just amazing to see how many people they touched.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brady Seals\u2019 career included a six-year stint in the country band Little Texas (\u201cMy Love,\u201d \u201cWhat Might Have Been\u201d), and as a prolific solo artist. These are touched upon in the Seals & Crofts 2 set list.<\/p>\n
Seals & Crofts 2 began when Crofts, who was carving out a name for herself as a Nashville studio vocalist, worked on a Seals session. On a whim, they tried harmonizing on \u201cSummer Breeze.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know what I expected,\u201d she says. \u201cWe were having a great time. But he and I didn\u2019t really need to do this. We\u2019re grownups; we\u2019re not trying to get a record deal or anything. We\u2019re not these young kids out there trying to hit the pavement and do all these big records. We just thought we would do this for fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
That was nearly seven years ago. The show has expanded and changed over the years, to include more original songs \u2013 and more songs from the Seals & Crofts catalogue.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like I\u2019m at the helm because Dash is my dad, so I feel a really deep responsibility,\u201d Crofts says.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause they really protected their legacy. They were two men of faith, so they really had not only a musical standard but a spiritual standard that they lived to. So I\u2019ve been very, very careful about how I present myself, and their music. I really want to be protective of who they are, and who they were.\u201d<\/p>\n
