TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A new monument will soon be going up at the Tallahassee National Cemetery to honor those who\u2019ve served in the U.S. Army.<\/p>\n

The cemetery\u2019s Memorial Walkway already includes tributes to the Marines, Air Force, Purple Heart recipients and more. <\/p>\n

People can stroll along the winding walkway or stop to reflect at one of the benches along the way. <\/p>\n

Billy Holder with Army Strong of Tallahassee helped to ensure that a U.S. Army Memorial Monument will go in along this walkway later this spring.<\/p>\n

He is now working with colleagues to have a bronze Battlefield Cross created too. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt represents all the branches of service, not just the individuals,\u201d Holder said. \u201cSo it covers everyone who was in every one of those services and that\u2019s important to me because without them where would be?\u201d<\/p>\n

Holder says right now, they are awaiting approval of the memorial\u2019s placement and design.<\/p>\n

According to James Taft with the VA National Cemetery Administration, the Battlefield Cross is \u201ccurrently in the final stages of the review process.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce final reviews are completed,\u201d he said, \u201cit will move forward to the National Cemetery Administration southeast district for approval.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no clear timeline for approval, but Holder says once they receive the okay, they\u2019ll work with FSU\u2019s Master Craftsman Studio to actually sculpt the Battlefield Cross.<\/p>\n

It would feature a helmet, boots, dog tags and an M16 along with the inscription \u201cAll gave some some gave all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Holder is hoping to install and dedicate the Battlefield Cross before the end of the year. <\/p>\n
